Coming to Canada

Foreign nationals who wish to work in or visit Canada may need to get a work permit, a visitor visa, or both to enter Canada. There are temporary and permanent immigration programs that you may be eligible to apply for.

Pathways to Teach Canada encourages applications from teachers living abroad. Explore your immigration options.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is the department responsible for immigration to Canada. For information on other pathways for immigration to Canada, visit Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.

Under the Canada-Québec Accord on immigration, Quebec establishes its own immigration requirements and selects immigrants who will adapt to living in Quebec. To obtain more information on Quebec’s immigration programs and eligibility criteria, visit the Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration du Québec (MIFI).
